Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is an excellent deep exfoliation treatment to address sun damaged skin, pigment irregularities, and scars.
Glowing skin with a more even tone and texture, smoothing of fine lines and scars and, with on-going treatments, an increasingly healthy look.
Microdermabrasion is a safe, common, non-surgical procedure, however there are people who should not have it. Individuals who should not have a Microdermabrasion include: people with herpes lesions, active acne or rosacea, open sores or lesions, dermatitis, psoriasis, people who have used Accutane within a 6 month period, people who have used Retin-A within the last 2 weeks prior to a procedure, and people with eczema and lupus.
Microdermabrasion is a device which removes a superficial portion of the skin, the stratum corneum. Our device utilizes abrasive crystals that are passed along the surface of the skin with a suction hand piece which removes the dead skin layer.
Side effects may include slight swelling and redness for several hours. The skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure, so we will expect you to use sunscreen following your session.
Typical Microdermabrasion takes 15 to 30 minutes. Most patients find it a pleasant experience. The Microdermabrasion handpiece will pass over your skin and you will begin to feel mild scratching as the procedure removes superficial skin cells. Following a session the skin will feel smoother and tighter with some redness, which in some cases will last several hours afterwards.
